BMW M4 Coupe and M3 Sedan Concepts Realistically Imagined

The word on the street is that BMW is making plans to unwrap a thinly disguised concept version of the M3 sedan at the Frankfurt motor show in September, with the final production model to appear in dealerships around the world in 2014.

Like many other publications, Britain's Car Magazine has come up with an illustration to give us an idea of what to expect about the M3 sedan's looks in its latest issue.

And it's not alone, as the creative minds over at Bimmerpost used their Photoshop skills to turn the BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept from the Detroit Motor Show into an impressive M4 Coupe study.

Premium Brands Move into Mass-Market Territory with US$30k Offerings

There are 75 million 30- to 40-year old consumers in the U.S. right now and, according to Mercedes-Benz USA head of marketing Bernie Glaser, “they have big expectations for products and brands”.

The problem for automakers like Mercedes, Audi and BMW is that these buyers are not able and/or willing to pay the US$40,000 sticker price attached to premium vehicles. Yet they want to have their cake and eat it, too – or, as Glaser puts it, demand “attractive styled cars and the right technology”.

One way to attract those buyers is to lower the entry price: only last week, BMW announced that, starting this spring, it will offer a 320i sedan priced at US$33,445 (including destination) – that’s US$4,300 cheaper than today’s entry-level 328i.

Would You Pay $42,900 for a Brand New 1992 BMW 325i Cabrio with Only 237 Miles?

As an avid fan of BMW's E30 3-Series, you can understand my enthusiasm after discovering a virtually brand-new 1992 325i with a mere 237 miles or 381 kilometers on the odometer, while surfing on eBay last night following an exhaustive coverage of the Detroit Auto Show – what can I say, I love cars…

Sure, it was the less desirable convertible (albeit fitted with a automatic manual transmission), but how often do you find an E30 these days with virtually no road time?

But as with many other things in this life, the first two seconds of enthusiasm were followed by disappointment upon looking at the Arizona seller's asking price of…$42,900 (€32,200 at the current exchange rates).

I don’t know why and how the car ended up being garaged for more than two decades, but the seller says that during this time, it was "covered throughout its life".

Naturally, we all know that when a vehicle remains unused for such a long period, many things can and will start to break or go bad. The current owner of the 325i Cabriolet says the car recently underwent service to fix these issues, and which are listed in detail below. Whether everything was addressed, is another story, for the car's future buyer to find out.

NAIAS 2013: New Entry-Level BMW 320i with 184hp Priced from $33,445

We can't even remember when was the last time that BMW offered a 320i-badged model in the States, even though it remains a popular model in other markets around the world.

The 320i is the more affordable and less powerful sibling of the 240hp 328i, with which it shares its 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine.

BMW Releases New Engines for 3-Series Touring and 10 New xDrive Variants

The new 4-Series concept may be one of the stars of the 2013 Detroit Motor Show but that doesn’t mean that BMW is leaving the rest of its line-up alone. Quite the opposite: the Bavaria-based luxury carmaker announced a host of additions to its range, all of which will become available in spring. Read more »

Death of a Classic Beemer…

We are getting ready to put down an old friend. No, not the family dog…our old friend is a 1989 BMW 325i. It is 23 years old, which in Southern California car years is equal to 102 in human years.

Our Beemer failed a smog test this weekend. (Luckily, failing high school algebra wasn’t a criterion for euthanasia or I wouldn’t be writing this!).  The car is in that very gray area where it would cost more to fix it than it’s worth.

And before we go too far, let me emphasize that we are not serious car people. We call our car The Beemer, which BMW car enthusiasts argue is incorrect. BMW motorcycles are to be called Beemers and cars are to be called Bimmers. Tomato, Tomahto I say. I am a phonetically based person and Beemer seems to be what a BMW vehicle should be called. Let’s move on.

Beware of Fast Driving BMWs

Driving on a city road as if Frank Martin (from The Transporter film series) is chasing you is never a good idea and it can get you and other people in trouble or even worse, as was the case with this BMW owner.

The video commentary says the accident happened in Taiwan, with the footage showing the BMW driver knocking down a bicyclist, who we're not sure if he was crossing the road from a side street or if he was in front of the car at the time.

Spy Shots: New BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo Loosens up on the Nürburgring

BMW seems hell bent to offer a 3-Series (or 3-Series-based) model for almost every need; from four door sedans in regular and long wheelbase body styles and station wagons, to coupes, convertibles, high performance variants, and even a so-called four-door coupe and a taller liftback model named the 3-Series Gran Turismo (GT).

The latter was spied by our photographers lifting its inner wheel in a corner during testing on the Nürburgring in Germany.
