The three men had stated that Maserati, along with Lamborghini, have been added to the Iran Watch List as they entered into import agreements with the country – something they deemed unacceptable due to the Iran's nuclear program. When the 'Speed' button is pressed, the powerful engine accelerates the car from zero to 60 in just 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 185 mph.

Exterior
The front bumper has been redesigned and gives a clear profile of speed and power. It helps improve road handling, and directs the airflow around the front brakes to provide additional cooling. The lighting units retain their shape from the previous model but an all-new LED system is now used for the daytime running lights.
At the rear, the taillights are now less wide, and are covered in a darker color. The appearance of the car when seen from the rear also conveys the sportiness of the car, with the rear diffuser having integrated twin exhausts in black.
Interior
New ergonomic design features have been used on the inside for both front and rear seats. The steering wheel has also been given a new design, with a flattened rim, giving a better grip for sports driving.
The 2013 Maserati GranCabrio Sport designers have replaced the wood inlays and wood trim with carbon fiber pieces.
Transmission
The six-speed, automatic transmission is based on that used in the GranTurismo. Torque is transmitted to the limited slip differential via a steel crankshaft.
